To clean your collection it is advisable to use either a soft paintbrush, cosmetics brush, photographic lens brush or a toothbrush to gently remove any build-up of dust.  For a more thorough clean items can be held briefly under a tap without affecting the paint, however, they should not be soaked in water or detergent for any length of time.  Cotton buds can be used to help remove stubborn stains such as a build of nicotine.  Make up a solution with washing up liquid and water, dip the cotton bud in the solution and then gently wipe the bud over your item, you should see the build-up of dirt transfer to the bud.
